I joined Chilled in February 2014 and I can happily say it was the best decision I could have made, With the company I was with previously I received nowhere near as much help and support as I do with Chilled, within the first week of being with them, I was fully booked and earning a good wage.
Alan is a very supportive Director, who will always be at the end of the phone whenever needed and whatever problem you have, but at the same time gives you the freedom to still be your own boss. We have meetings every couple of months which allows us to put our opinions and input into the business and also interact with the other instructors. Even though I have been with Chilled for less than a year I already feel part of the family and everyone gets along really well.
I initially joined Chilled through their instructor training course, in which I learned the ropes and was given enormous support from a number of their already qualified instructors. Since passing my part 3 instructor test first time I was thrown straight into the deep end, starting in less than 2 weeks of passing with a fully wrapped Audi A1, iPad ready to go and a flock of students awaiting eagerly. The first few weeks flew by and my confidence grew as an instructor all down to the endless help supplied by the team who were there for every question and difficulty I faced.
The franchise fee is exceptionally reasonable, covering the vehicle wrapping, iPad, as many pupils as I can handle, every other month meetings (with free breakfast!) to cover over ideas and plans as a team, all expenses paid team social events and a close knit group of superb instructors that I can rely on for any additional support that I need.
I can honestly say that joining Chilled has been one of the best things I have done. Since joining, I have constantly had a full diary, the vast majority of which have been provided by Chilled. I was previously paying a franchise with one of big three, but found the level of work very low, not even enough to cover the weekly franchise. After joining Chilled however, I have been able to work full time in a job I love whilst paying a very reasonable franchise. The upshot is, I am now working for a healthy profit for the first time since becoming an instructor.
I have found Alan to be a fantastic MD. He is always ready to give his full support to all the instructors, with bi-monthly meetings for the whole team allowing us input into the business. I truly feel part of a great team, and the other instructors really are a great bunch.
Having worked in retail for the last 12 years I decided to make a career change that would be more family friendly. Having known Alan and Lisa both professionally and personally for the last 12 years I knew I could trust what they were saying to me about joining the Chilled Family.
Alan took me under his wing and welcomed me, as I knew he would, 12 years of friendship or not. The process of training to be a driving instructor isn't an easy one, but Alan is always there to support you. Once qualified I was given a full diary of pupils, as promised. And when you have a pupil pass there is always a new pupil waiting to start lessons.
Joining Chilled for me was a very good decision, it has meant I can get stuck right into the job as they provided me with a full diary as soon as I started working with the franchise. Prior to joining Alan was happy to meet me and discuss the franchise in detail, answering any questions I had.
At the time I had only recently passed my driving instructor qualification exams, so the great the amount of support I received was fantastic. It really feels that any time I have a question there is someone else I can talk to who can help solve the problem with me, whether that person is Alan, the managing director, or one of the other driving instructors working for the for the franchise. Everybody is so friendly and helpful!
I joined Chilled December 2015 after training with the Chilled Academy program.
When my partner passed with Chilled, her instructor suggested I look at becoming an instructor, if I didn't like my current job.
I considered it for few days and thought, why not go for it and see how far I get? I did and become an instructor - huge career change for the good.
